Legality Discussion Scripts
High FDP — Voicemail While In Flight
"Good Afternoon, [Crewmember Name]. You are currently projected high on
FDP. When you arrive, please give us a call to discuss your FDP limit
and latest wheels up."
High FDP — Prior to Last Flight
"Good Afternoon, [Crewmember Name]. I am calling about your FDP limit
today. Currently, you are projected XXXX/XXXX FDP. Are you fit to
extend?"
If the Pilot Asks for Math
"With your FDP limit of XX hours today, your ETE of XXX and STI of XXX,
your latest wheels up time is XXXX."
If the Pilot Disagrees
"Thank you [CA/FO Name]. Again, we are calculating your wheels up as
XXXX. If you still disagree with this, your next point of escalation is
to speak with your Chief Pilots Office."
Either Willing or Not Willing to Extend — Always Provide Latest Wheels
Up
"Thank you for letting us know. Your original latest wheels up without
an extension is XXXX. With your extension, your latest wheels-up time is
XXXX."
High Flight Time
"Good morning, [Crewmember Name]. I am calling about your remaining
flight time for today. Your flight time limit is XX hours. We are
currently showing you projected at XXXX/XXXX flight time and your max
taxi out for this flight is XXXX."
High Flight Time — If Pilot Asks for Math
"With your flight time limit of XX hours today, we have subtracted your
previous flight time of XXXX hours, your ETE of XXX and STI of XXX of
this flight. Your max taxi out is XXXX."
High Flight Time — If Pilot Disagrees
"Again, we are calculating your max taxi out time as XXXX. If you still
disagree with this, your next point of escalation is to speak with your
Chief Pilots Office."
Requests for Additional Rest
When pilot requests additional rest (regardless of reason):
"What report time will you need to receive your 8 hours of uninterrupted
rest opportunity to be fit for duty?"
When pilot requests a report time providing more than 10 hours of
rest:
"Thank you [CA/FO Name], I will get the report time delayed out for you.
Just to confirm, you will need a XXXX report to receive your 8 hours of
uninterrupted rest opportunity. Will you need the full 45 (or 60) minute
briefing?"
30 in 168
CBA 12.F.2 —
No Pilot shall be scheduled to receive less than a 31 hour Rest
Period in any consecutive 168 hour period prior to the start of any
Flight Duty Period or Reserve Duty Period. Actual rest may be less
than 31 hours but not less than 30 hours.
-
Rest is measured backward from the start of each
RDP and FDP.
-
Verify EVERY RDP and FDP, both in base and out of
base.
-
Identify the 168-hour window prior to the FDP/RDP and confirm that
31 hours of rest were scheduled so the pilot could reasonably expect
at least 30 hours of actual rest at the time the rest period begins
(prospective in nature).
